Admission

Undergraduate Programs

The Undergraduate School accepts entry to all Faculties and Departments, except for the Flex B Program, by official international students. (Official international students are full-time students who enter either the four-year undergraduate program or the graduate program in April.)
International students are required to have a high proficiency level in Japanese language because almost all of the lectures and seminars are offered in Japanese.
Entrance examinations for international applicants to the programs are held as follows:

Applicant Qualification To qualify, applicants must satisfy each of the following requirements:

The applicants' nationality must be other than Japanese.
The applicants must be at least 18 years old as of April 1.
The applicants must have undergone a 12-year course of school education in a foreign country or be designated and approved as eligible by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan.
The applicants must take the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students administered by the Independent Administrative Institution Japan Student Services Organization by the due date.

Application Procedure

The applicants must submit an application form to the Admission Center, the University Information Bureau.
The application period is in November.
All the applicants need pre-screening to check the qualification.

Entrance Examination

The applicants must take a written examination and interview in Japanese. (The examination subjects are different in each department.)
The examination is conducted in January.

Postgraduate Programs

Almost all of the courses are offered in Japanese. International students are required to have a high proficiency level in Japanese language. (It is highly recommended to have the same level as JLPT N2 at least)

Applicant Qualification

To qualify, the applicants must fall under any of the following requirements. The applicants who do not satisfy the requirements below must take *the Preliminary Qualification Screening. If you have any doubt for the qualification for application, please contact us in advance.

Master's Program

  • The applicants who have graduated or are expected to graduate from an undergraduate program in Japan by March 31.
  • The applicants who have completed 16 years of education abroad.
  • The applicants who have received or are scheduled to receive a Bachelor's Degree by March 31.
  • The applicants who passed *the Preliminary Qualification Screening before the application.
  • The applicants who is designated and approved as eligible by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan.

Doctoral Program

  • The applicants who have received or are scheduled to receive a Master's Degree or a degree equivalent to a Master's Degree.
  • The applicants who passed *the Preliminary Qualification Screening before the application.
  • The applicants who is designated and approved as eligible by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan.

Preliminary Qualification Screening

The applicants who graduated from a junior college, a college of technology, a specialized school or other educational institution must take this screening before the entrance examination.
The eligibility for applicants is examined based on the submitted documents. (There is also an interview in some divisions.)

Application Procedure

The applicants must register own information through the website and mail the required documents to the Admission Center, the University Information Bureau. If you apply from abroad, please ensure the required documents arrives no later than the due date.

Entrance Examination

The applicants must take a written examination or/and oral examination in Japanese. (The examination subjects are different for each Division.) The examination is held twice a year, in September and in February.
